The Royal Tenenbaums (The Criterion Collection)

I have a friend from school who is a big Wes Anderson fan. In fact, if it weren't for Rod I probably still to this day would not have seen Rushmore or Life Aquatic. Both of which I really enjoyed. Because I've previously seen two of Wes Anderson's movies already, I feel as though I know what I'm in for with The Royal Tenenbaums.

After having watched the movie:

This one is tough, I feel like there really isn't a lot for me to say about this movie. I loved everything about the characters in the movie, and the dysfunctional family as a whole. And despite my personal celebrity feud with Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristin was right she actually isn't awful - in this role at least.

Final thoughts: There are times when I'll pick something to watch either on Showtime or Netflix, because  there was something in the brief synopsis that caught my attention. The majority of the time I do okay when picking movies, but on rare occasions I'll pick something like An American Haunting. Which I strongly recommend walking away from - it's terrible on nearly all aspects of filmmaking, and even fails to be classified as a "good bad movie" like Showgirls. I do however always feel confident about picking a Wes Anderson movie. With Wes Anderson I know what I'm getting. It's going to be a little dialogue heavy, there will be a lot of wide shots and one of the Wilson brothers will have a some kind of role in the movie.
